With nearly two decades of experience across cross-border payments, merchant gateways, and payment orchestration, Mike brings a deep well of industry knowledge, commercial insight, and energy to the role.
We sat down with Mike for a quick-fire Q&A to learn more about his journey, what drew him to TransferMate, and his vision for the road ahead.
A Career Shaped by Cross-Border Payments
“My professional background spans almost 20 years in the payments space,” Mike shares. “From B2B cross-border payments and corporate treasury to gateway and orchestration solutions, I’ve worked in a range of customer-facing commercial roles, both as an individual contributor and in leadership.”
Despite this broad experience, cross-border B2B payments have always been his first love. “That’s where I started, and it’s great to be back doing what I’ve always been most passionate about.”
Why did Mike decide to explore a career with TransferMate?
When asked what attracted him to TransferMate, Mike points to the company’s licensing infrastructure, global reach, and partnerships.
“With 92 licenses and counting, TransferMate stands out as the world’s largest fintech payments infrastructure. That licensing footprint is our secret sauce, something only a few banks can match,” Mike explains. “We’re enabling seamless B2B payments in over 140 currencies across more than 200 countries and territories. That capability, combined with our partnerships with major FIs and software providers, made this opportunity incredibly compelling.”
But for Mike, it’s not just about the tech. “The team here is exceptional. We have deeply experienced and highly motivated individuals who are fully committed to our partners. That level of dedication is rare.”
What are your priorities as Head of EMEA?
Mike has two key goals in his new role: strengthening existing relationships and building new ones.
“First, I want to get closer to our current partners, understand their goals, how they’re growing, and how we can better align with and support them,” he says. “Second, I want to expand our reach across the EMEA region, ensuring TransferMate becomes the go-to cross-border payments provider.”
What is your approach to building strong partnerships?
Mike is keen to establish deep partnerships with companies in the EMEA region, and that begins with learning.
“It starts with understanding,” Mike explains. “Understanding our partner’s business, their market, their clients, and their strategic priorities. Once we know what they need, we align our solutions to support that.”
For Mike, transparency and follow-through are non-negotiables. “It’s about setting clear expectations, delivering on those, and offering exceptional customer service throughout. We have a phenomenal support team that consistently goes above and beyond.”
Beyond the Office
When he’s not leading sales strategy, you’ll find Mike on the road running marathons.
“I’ve run a 2:51 marathon, with Boston, London, and Manchester under my belt. Running is more than a physical challenge for me. It gives me headspace. Time to think, reflect, and plan,” he says.
Mike also cites Shoe Dog by Nike’s Phil Knight as his favourite book. “It’s a story of persistence, setbacks, and building something iconic through sheer determination. That spirit really resonates with me.”

Unexpected career aspiration? “Zoologist! My uncle was a microscopic zoologist and inspired me as a kid.”

Guilty pleasure music? “Thanks to my daughter, I now know most Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter songs by heart, even if I deny liking them.”
